Making more moves
Mar 27th, 2007 by Rob Bradford
Javier Lopez has been told he will occupy the final spot on the Red Sox roster. Lopez has pitched 9 2/3 innings this spring, surrendering just one run while walking two.
Kyle Snyder was justifiably happy in the clubhouse after batting practice, having made the team in a role that was described to him as a long-man type right now with the possibility of an alteration in the future. His first call went to his mom (Sandy) and dad (Don). While he is trying to put simply making the team all in perspective, he had to admit that because of the circumstances (one perceived spot on the staff entering spring training) this was among the top moments in his career.
Another noteworthy announcement was that top prospect Clay Buchholz will start for the Red Sox Thursday at City of Palms Park against Tampa Bay.

Lopez made the team? With Okajima and Romero, that makes three lefties out of the pen. Impressive.
Too bad for Manny Delcarman. Even though he was in the majors most of last year, he still couldn’t make the team. If he wants to stick with his hometown team, he’d better get his act together.

Has Devern pulled it together since getting the demotion? For some reason, I tink this guy can add something to this team. Am I nuts?

I really do not want to see Romero pitching to righties.
I hope they don’t slap the LOOGY tag on Lopez and make J.C. pitch to everyone. He kills lefties, but just isn’t great against righties.

I’m glad they kept Snyder. Kyle found his niche last year as a long reliever.
I still remember his performance against Cleveland. He pitched 6 scoreless innings in relief and Ortiz hit a game winning hr in the end.

Speaking of kittens. Have you heard there are homeless kittens in the mills of Lawrence. They’re just sitting there homeless. So sad.
