Just off field No. 2 where Daisuke Matsuzaka threw 44 pitches in a batting practice session. Hitting against the hurler was Bobby Scales, Kevin Cash, Luis Jiminez, and Jacoby Ellsbury.”Impressive,” Ellsbury told me on the way to another round of BP. “His fastball got going as he went along. Clement update

Matt Clement talked to the media for 41 minutes just now. Some highlights:- Posted a football card of Drew Brees on his son’s wall for motivation. It was referenced more than once that Brees had a similar surgery as Clement and obviously came through it in good shape.- Plans on throwing for the first time sometime in the first week of March. Driving the minor league complex this morning to catch some interviews before the players head to the links for their annual charity golf tournament and the Metro’s Joe Haggerty pointed out a tempting option for the afternoon … the local planetarium was advertising the chance to see venomous snakes and an albino raccoon. Contract talk

A synopsis from Terry Francona, Theo Epstein and Curt Schilling regarding the announcement that the the pitcher won’t be talking contract until after the season:- Schilling obviously disappointed.
