A vote on Gov. Deval Patrick’s proposal to license three resort casinos in Massachusetts could be taken by the House of Representatives early next month.
A hearing on the proposal has been scheduled for March 18 at which there will be a full airing of the pros and cons of allowing casinos in the Bay State. And speculation is that House Speaker Sal DiMasi wants a vote before the House takes up the budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
That makes sense since the governor has included casino revenue in his version of the FY ‘09 spending plan. But there’s also speculation DiMasi, who opposes casinos, has counted votes and wants to strike while he still has a majority of members on his side.
Meanwhile some are having fun with this issue. For a look at Slots for Tots video on You Tube click here.
