Two weeks ago, a close finish in New Hampshire would have been a huge win for Barack Obama. Unfortunately for him, by the time the primary arrived, he was expected to win big and that second-place finish became a major disappointment for his camp.
It was just the opposite for Hillary, once considered a prohibitive favorite, who by Tuesday night had been transformed into the second “Comeback Kid” in the Clinton family by narrowly edging the Illinois senator.
It goes to show that momentum can be a double-edged sword in American politics. Tuesday morning Obama had it, but by Tuesday night it had disappeared along with much of the snow cover in Southern New Hampshire.
