I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton condemn “the politics of personal destruction.” So I was shocked - absolutely shocked, when she refused to condemn the recent advertisement by MoveOn.org that called Gen. David Petraeus, the commanding general of the multi-national force in the Iraq war, “General Betray Us.” On NPR this week, she was given another chance to disavow that kind of politics, and ducked it again. Then, just the other day, she referred to Vice President Dick Cheney as Darth Vader. Just a little joke, I’m sure.
I’m starting to get it. She’s opposed to the politics of HER personal destruction. The personal destruction of those who disagree with her is OK.
