RED SOX 5, MARINERS 4 — 15 innings

No. 1 Star: The Red Sox bullpen did an amazing job. Koji Uehara, Matt Thornton, Craig Breslow and Drake Britton combined for 7.0 scoreless innings after Junichi Tazawa surrendered the lead in the eighth.

Walkoff Win: SS Stephen Drew doubled home the winning run with the bases loaded and two outs in the 15th inning.

AL East Standings: The Tampa Bays Rays lost 7-0 to the Diamondbacks and the Baltimore Orioles lost 11-0 to the Astros. So the Red Sox move into first, 0.5 games ahead of Tampa and 5.5 games ahead of Baltimore.

Lackey’s Line: Red Sox starter John Lackey pitched another strong game. He went 7.0 innings, allowing three runs, all earned, on eight hits and one walk while striking out six. He did not factor in the decision. His ERA is at 3.22 after 19 starts.

Unassisted DP: Ever seen a left fielder make an unassisted double play? Well, Jonny Gomes made one today when he ran in for a catch and then tagged second base for the second out.

Sox No. 2 Star: Second baseman Dustin Pedroia sent a laser over the Green Monster in the seventh inning for his eighth homer of the season and his second of the series. His two-run blast gave Boston a 4-3 lead.
