The Red Sox today acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Graham Godfrey from the Oakland Athletics to complete the Nov. 28 trade of right-handed pitcher Sandy Rosario.
Godfrey, 28, spent most of last year with Oakland’s Triple-A Sacramento and was named to the Pacific Coast League’s All-Star Team. He went 9-2 with one save, a 3.29 ERA, 60 strikeouts and 26 walks in 20 games, 17 starts. He was selected as the pitcher with the best control in the Pacific Coast League by Baseball America in its 2012 Best Tools Survey.
The right-hander began 2012 on the Athletics’ Opening Day roster. He pitched in five games, including making four starts for Oakland, and went 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA.
He went 1-2 with a 3.96 ERA in five appearances, including four starts, for Oakland in 2011.
