Max Scherzer went 16-7 with a 3.74 ERA in 32 starts this year. He led the AL in strikeouts per nine innings pitched (11.1).
I pointed out yesterday that he posted a 1-3 record with a horrific 7.77 ERA in five starts in April and a 8-5 record with a 4.72 ERA in 17 first-half starts.
But he was dominant in the second half with an 8-2 record and 2.69 ERA. He posted a 4-0 record and 2.25 ERA in five August starts, then a 2-1 record and 1.91 ERA in six starts in September/October.
