On Dec. 2, 1958, the Red Sox traded center fielder Jimmy Piersall to the Cleveland Indians for for Gary Geiger and Vic Wertz.

Piersall was a two-time All-Star (1954, 1956) for the Red Sox. He also won a Gold Glove in 1958.

During his eight-year Red Sox career, he hit .273 with a .340 on-base percentage. He bashed 66 home runs and drove in 366 runs.

Geiger hit 71 homers, drove in 246 runs and bat .253 with a .338 on-base percentage in seven seasons with Boston. Meanwhile, Wertz played three seasons with Boston, hitting 37 homers, driving in 212 runs and batting .274 with a .337 on-base percentage.
