Manager Terry Francona was asked by a member of the media whether Josh Beckett needs to remake himself as a pitcher in terms of style at all.
“No,” Francona said. “I think he tried to last year a little bit. I think he had time to sit when he was hurt and he was watching (Jon) Lester and (Clay) Buchholz and they were throwing those cutters and all of a sudden he started doing that. Then, he’d throw one good one and he’d kind of fall in love with it and then he’d throw three bad ones. But that happens.”
