Hideki Okajima “is close to agreeing on a 1-year deal that would keep him in a Red Sox uniform,” according to The Boston Globe. Okajima struggled last season for the Red Sox, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.72 WHIP in 46 innings. He was non-tendered by the Red Sox earlier this offseason.

SI.com’s Jon Heyman tweeted yesterday that the Red Sox are interested in free agent left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes. However, Heyman writes that some other teams have some interest, too.
