Ron Paul set another fundraising record yesterday, raising $6 million. In November, Paul’s campaign tried to break John Kerry’s $5.7 million goal in 24 hours, but failed. So they changed the timeframe to win the 16-hour goal with $2.7 million raised in online contributions.
By dinnertime Sunday, 30,000 people had donated to the campaign and 13,000 were first-time donors.
Breaking the record on the second big fundraising day speaks to the enormous grassroots effort and how much momentum Paul is getting, according to campaign chairman Kent Snyder.
“The $6 million one-day total means the campaign has raised over $18 million this quarter, far exceeding its goal of $12 million,” he said. “Finally, as Americans see the value of their dollar plummet, they know Dr. Paul has devoted his political career to stopping the inflation that makes it impossible for middle-class families to get ahead.”
Grassroots supporters set up a Web site | Tea Party 07 | to lead supporters to Paul’s site to “dump” money into Paul’s campaign to commemorate the 234th Anniversary of the historic event.

But this is no ordinary time — and this is no ordinary election — and John McCain is no ordinary candidate.
“In this critical election, no one should let party lines be a barrier to choosing the person we believe is best qualified to lead our nation forward.”
