Vietnam veteran Jim Goodnow, who owns the Yellow Rose of Texas Peace Bus, has complained to New Hampshire state police about a driver in John McCain’s convoy.
Goodnow said McCain’s bus forced him into the breakdown lane on I-93 around Salem and Windham. Goodnow said the peace bus was traveling behind McCain’s buses on Sunday afternoon and tried to pass. But when Goodnow pulled into the left lane, one McCain bus cut in front and straddled the two lanes.
Goodnow said this continued for a distance. Then that bus and the other McCain bus, the “Straight Talk Express,” both pulled into the left lane.
Goodnow moved the Yellow Rose of Texas Peace Bus into the right lane, and as soon as he drew ahead of the McCain buses, the second McCain bus pulled back into the right lane, forcing him to brake and go into the breakdown lane to avoid a crash.
Goodnow got off the highway at Exit 4 and called police. He is also contacting McCain’s campaign. He said two children were riding on the peace bus and could have been injured.
McCain spokesman Barry Flynn said he would not comment on the allegation.
