The candidates were quick to issue statements or make comments at campaign events yesterday following the assassination of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
The Associated Press reported that the Pakistani opposition leader’s death has pushed terrorism to the forefront in many voters’ minds, which could help candidates like Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton who are seen as strong on national security.
Clinton, Giuliani, John McCain, Barack Obama, Bill Richardson, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney all made comments or issued press releases today responding to Bhutto’s assassination.
