Bill Shaheen resigned today as national co-chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, according to the Associated Press.
Shaheen, the husband of former New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen, had come under fire for comments he made earlier in the week about Barack Obama’s teenage drug use.
Shaheen reportedly raised the issue of Obama’s drug use during an interview with the Washington Post, saying that Democrats should be wary of nominating him because his drug use could make it difficult for him to win the presidency.
Clinton apologized to Obama today as they waited to fly to Iowa for a debate.
