Bill Richardson spent his day in Iowa, touting his education reform plan with a new telelvision ad | but it’s no wonder the ad isn’t airing here.
Among the things Richardson is pushing for is universal pre-kindergarten. But there are still 11 school districts in New Hampshire that don’t offer kindergarten, and they might not offer it until 2009.
His $60 million plan also includes an iniative to increase starting teacher salaries to $40,000, create a national service program for aspiring math and science teachers where tuition for college would be reimbursed, and create a special math and science academy for teachers.
Richardson plans to pay for the plan by reducing the nuclear arsenal and cutting outdated weapons systems from the government budget.
