Taking heat for raising taxes, Republican hopeful Mike Huckabee told Fox News he really had a good record on taxes as Arkansas governor. But Huckabee isn’t telling it like it is, according to Fred Thompson’s campaign Thompson’s people put out a report from FactCheck.org, which called Huckabee’s comments “misleading and incorrect.”
For example, Huckabee said he cut taxes “almost 94 times,” but didn’t mention 21 other times he raised taxes. Overall, taxes rose in Arkansas under Huckabee.
But FactCheck also said Thompson “stretched the truth” when he said spending doubled under Huckabee. It didn’t double, and Huckabee left a surplus.
