Sen. Hillary Clinton unveiled a plan yesterday that would help the U.S. address what she calls the “twin challenges” of energy independence and climate change.
She said her plan would create new jobs, increase biofuels and reduce dependence on international fuel.
“Our nation’s dependence on foreign oil places our economy at risk, our security in jeopardy, and our planet in peril. But I believe we can transform the way we use and produce energy – and create at least 5 million jobs in new green industries,” Clinton said.
She also said her plan would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent from 1990 levels before 2050, cut foreign oil imports by 66 percent, and increase production of biofuels to 36 billion gallons by 2022 and 60 billion gallons by 2030. Biofuels include corn ethanol, cellulosic ethanol, biodiesel and others.
Do you think this plan will help with the “twin challenges?”
