Arizona Sen. John McCain figured his stand against subsidies would hurt him in the Iowa caucuses. And today’s poll from the University of Iowa seems to confirm his worst fears. It has him running a distant fifth, with support from just 6 percent of the most-likely caucus-goers. On a campaign swing by the Hillside Convenience Store last week, McCain told Pelham Selectman Doug Viger that Iowa could be his biggest hurdle on the way to winning the Republican nomination.
