Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., introduced a new bill that furthers his stance on illegal immigration.
Tancredo introduced a bill on Tueday that would overturn a recent federal district court ruling from San Francisco that claimed the US Department of Homeland Security was acting outside of its jurisdiction in issuing “no match” letters to San Francisco employees.
“No match” letters ask employees to provide updated Social Security information for filing purposes. If an illegal alien is unknowingly working in a state, false Social Security numbers are provided. The DHS responds by issuing “no match” letters.
According to a press release on Tancredo’s campaign Web site, the legislation would put pressure on businesses to improve their stances on illegal immigrants working in business, but also would impose potential sanctions on businesses that fail to comply.
