With so many New Englanders tuned into the Boston Red Sox postseason game against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, many probably did not hear GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s swipe at Sen. Hillary Clinton’s proposed appropriation for a Woodstock museum in New York, according to McCain’s New Hampshire press spokesman.
What spokesman Barry Flynn called a classic moment is now receiving more attention thanks to a McCain television advertisement in New Hampshire.
The ad highlights McCain’s line from the GOP debate in Florida when he opposed Clinton’s attempt to spend $1 million in taxpayers’ money for the museum.
Script for “Tied Up”
McCain: “A few days ago, Senator Clinton tried to spend one million dollars on the Woodstock concert museum.
“Now my friends, I wasn’t there. I’m sure it was a cultural and pharmaceutical event.
“I was, I was tied up at the time.”
McCain: “No one can be president of the United States that supports projects such as these.
“I’m John McCain and I approve this message.”
