This just in from my intern, Nicole Lonero:
Tuesdays, white tents always line the edges of Copley Square for the summer farmer’s markets held there — filled with vegetables, breads and even desserts.
But yesterday was different. Along the never-ending row of tents, only one fluttered with the excitement and attention of many.

Local-born celeb, Saturday Night Live alum Amy Poehler and her husband Will Arnett stopped by the new Kiehls Store in Burlington earlier this week to celebrate its opening.

Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo gave Poehler checks for three local charities — the women’s shelter Rosie’s Place, the cystic fibrosis unit at Children’s Hospital in Boston and the music and drama department at Burlington High.

The event was so packed. Besides onlookers hanging outside the store, the store itself had little elbow room as people alternately competed to get looks at Poehler and the Kiehl’s product line (which is AWESOME by the way).

This is what the pres had to say:

“We are so honored to have Amy Poehler help us celebrate the grand opening of our store in Burlington, because she has such strong ties to Burlington, and because she is also beloved in Kiehl’s hometown of New York. Bringing Amy back to her hometown and helping to support and celebrate Burlington High School’s Music and Drama Department, Children’s Hospital Boston’s Cystic Fibrosis Center, and Rosie’s Place means so much to Kiehl’s and allows us to become part of our new Burlington community.”

“The Boston area has always been a home to Kiehl’s. Our Newbury Street store, which opened in 2002, was our third freestanding store, and six years later, we are so proud to open our second location in the Boston area here in Burlington. We wanted to return to the area to give residents who live outside Boston a chance to buy our products in a more accessible location. Our new store features a recently updated interior design, with a modern apothecary feel, and natural sustainable materials such as reclaimed wood flooring and energy-efficient light fixtures.”

It’s definitely a beautiful store, and locals should go bananas if the crowd is any indication. As much as love all shopping venues, it was fun to see the pregnant Poehler out and about, not worrying about pictures with people, crowd control, etc., etc.

Wow. What a great movie.

I was a fan of the show, in all its HBO glory. I thought network TV watered the raunchy out of the series on the WB/CW a bit much.

The movie bridged the two styles well, in a story that tied into the show well while also standing on its own.

I won’t write much about the plot here — don’t want to spoil it for others.

But there is some major drama, explicit sex scenes and teary romantic moments.

(OK, teary for me.)

Loved the fact that the film’s audience looked like it was attended a red carpet premiere (especially the shoes, which were great) and that everyone applauded at the end.

Even though Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha weren’t there, they deserved the praise nonetheless.

While its great that this movie did great at the box office (the highest haul ever for an R-rated comedy) news of a sequel kind of disturbs me.

To cap it all off, Cook wins. I was positive Archuleta was going to take the title, but Cook was a great choice. Can’t wait to see the concert.

Rob Lowe, shooting a film locally here in the Merrimack Valley, was also in attendance — unfortunately not in the front row, like the newlyweds.

According Tim, the pair — rooting for Cleveland (ouch) didn’t seem to be that interested in the game. Jay-Z spent a lot of time texting and Beyonce looked disinterested.

And here’s a tip: We hear Bruce Willis will be shooting a film in Lawrence, Mass., today.

I love Kathy Griffin.

For this reason, I was totally excited to see her perform last night in Lowell, Mass. The comedian did back to back shows, with barely a rest in between.

Her act was a typical one for Griffin | telling the audience tales from her life in Hollywood.

However, I was particularly amazed by the fact that she was so current in her stories — she tackled Paula Abdul’s gaff this week on “American Idol” (as in critiquing songs before they’re performed), Mariah Carey’s recent wedding, and Rob Lowe’s continuing nanny woes. (Apt, since he’s filming his latest movie in the area.)

Honestly, I didn’t stop laughing the entire night. Griffin’s a font of pop culture knowledge.

Though I liked her before this, I have to say, I am an even bigger fan now.

Did anyone else see the show? Would love to hear your thoughts.
