I know what you’re thinking. Does television really need another cop show?
Well, there are a lot of them out there, and I won’t bore you by listing the ones on the air, the ones coming up later this year, yada, yada.
However, after having seen this pilot, I can tell you that this show definitely has a few unique twists that give it a leg up on those other police procedural shows. The usual stuff is there: the cop the a ‘tude, the gruff boss, the dramatic crime, the satisfying justice at the end.
But this show definitely has something most cop shows don’t: a flavor that is distinctly southern and gritty, with a few dashes of Elvis swagger. It’s an interesting approach to the genre that could yield some interesting television.
Is it worth watching? Hard to say at this point. An interesting concept, solid writing and compelling acting aren’t enough to make a show successful. It also has to have something addicting about it, and I didn’t get that here. Maybe this is one of the shows that will grow on me, but maybe not.
Love to hear your thoughts on the show readers . . . .
