John Mayer will be at the Boston Garden performing tonight at 8 p.m. with opening act Michael Franti and Spearhead.
Last Friday night, I was lucky enough to hear Mayer play in his home state of Connecticut, and Mayer rocked the microphone, playing all the songs from his new album, “Battle Studies.”
Mayer even played a few of the old songs: “Why Georgia” and the song “Say” that he wrote for the movie “The Bucket List.”
Even the opening act, Michael Franti and Spearhead was fantastic, with reggae rhythms and lyrcis that were understandable. Usually I’d rather skip right over the opening acts, however, this was one act that I wanted to actually go out and buy the album even before the concert was over. Franti started with just a small group of fans who knew his music, who were standing and dancing, but by the end of his hour set onstage, he had the entire stadium up on their feet dancing.
