KISS 108’s Matt Siegel from the “Matty in the Morning” show won the 2009 Marconi Award from the National Association of Broadcasters for Major Market Personality of the Year. Winners of the 2009 Marconi Radio Awards were announced Thursday night at the annual NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show held at the NAB Radio Show in Philadelphia.
Commenting on his award, Siegel said, “It is such a thrill to win this award. Working with such a great team of people makes it even sweeter.”Tom McConnell, President Clear Channel Radio Boston, added, ““Matt is truly one of the best broadcasters in our industry, and I couldn’t be more proud of what he has accomplished.”
Cadillac Jack, Operations Manger, Clear Channel Boston/Providence said, “Matt’s 30 years of sustained success is no surprise. He has a natural sense of comedic timing that permeates the entire audio journey his listeners share with him daily, instinctually eliciting an emotional connection with his wide variety of listeners, and masterfully nurturing that bond over the years – the degree to which few other personalities in America have achieved. I couldn’t be happier for my friend and co-worker, Matt Siegel, on taking the top spot in this prestigious category for the second time!”
2009 marks Matt Siegel’s 28th year hosting the top-rated “Matty in the Morning” show, heard in Boston, Portsmouth, and now Providence. From its very inception, the show’s ratings have sat high above the competition in this most competitive timeslot, and today the show continues its dominance with listeners from ages 6 to 60 in Arbitron’s PPM Methodology.
Established in 1989, the Marconi Awards are presented annually to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.
