GILFORD — Meadowbrook U.S. Celluar Pavillion has brought a multitude of musical talents to perform on their stage for thousands of screaming fans over the past several years.

Last Friday, before rock band 3 Doors Down hit the Meadowbrook stage, they, along with the staff of Meadowbrook, made the dream of 8-year-old Alex Anderson come true when Alex and his family had a meet and greet with the band.

Anderson was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblstic Leukemia in 2008 and has since been in treatment. However, it was during the long drives from his home to the hospital for treatment, that Anderson listened to the music of 3 Doors Down.

In a note from the family describing Anderson’s treatment and life, they say that they have tried to keep Alex’s life as normal as possible. After a visit with his grandmother, the family was headed home and passed Meadowbrook when Anderson saw the marquee for the 3 Doors Down show.

“Oh Mom we have to go to that! I love them” said Anderson. So when Anderson’s mother ran into Elizabeth Tretter from concert promoters Clear Channel Portsmouth a couple of days later, that story came up. A few days after meeting Tretter, Anderson recieved a phone call saying that the radio stations WHEB and WERZ, along with Meadowbrook Pavilion wanted to send the family to see 3 Doors Down.

“I was asked by WHEB/WERZ if it was an all ages show,” said Chris Lockwood, the Director of Marketing for Meadowbrook. “I responded yes and asked why. Elizabeth Tretter told me about Alex and wondered if we could give him tickets. I immediately got them better seats and talked to 3 Doors Down’s manager about having him meet the band.

About Anderson meeting the band, Lockwood said, “3 Doors Down was great, they made him feel like the star.”

In the future, Anderson is looking forward to getting back to school, starting third grade and can’t wait to hang out with all his friends.
