Dick Doherty stages a ‘riot’

This just in:
The “Godfather of Boston Comedy,” Dick Doherty, will shell out more than $1,000 for the funniest amateur stand-up comic in Boston.
The Beantown Comedy Riot 2009,  slated for Thursdays — 7/30,  8/6,  8/13,  8/20, and the FINALS -8/27 — has 50  funnymen and women  competing for the ‘top banana’ honor.
