The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company returns to Boston Common this summer, with the Bard’s Comedy of Errors, directed by Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler.
The free program, which is a beloved civic institution, will draw an estimated 75,000 people over 17 performances, from July 31—Aug. 16.
Performances take place Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m., with matinees Sunday, August 8 at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, August 12 at 12:30 p.m., weather permitting.
This marks the company’s first Boston Common production since regaining its independence from the Citi Performing Arts Center, in a well-publicized split last fall.
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is once again an independent non-profit organization, as it was prior to that relationship, which started in 2004.
This summer, CSC also offers a “Tour of the Parks,” with “Shakespeare on Love” a Shakespeare-inspired program designed for families.
