This just in:
After a brief hiatus, Merrimack Valley based Violet Nine has come roaring back, and this time they appear with famous friends – legendary spoken word artist Malik Yusef, and rap icon Kanye West. They appear as the only band featured on the first independent release from West’s own label (G.O.O.D Music Recordings), entitled “G.O.O.D Morning, G.O.O.D Night.”
Years after receiving a Violet Nine demo on the streets of New York City, Yusef approached the band for his latest project with Kanye West. Singer Ben Consoli stated, “Malik called me directly and asked if Violet Nine would record a song for his project. We were excited and honored to be part of an album full of such talented musicians.” The result was the Peter Gabriel inspired “So Pop U Layer”, which the BBC hailed as “unexpectedly brilliant.” Also appearing on this 2 disc collection are such stars as Kanye West, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Common, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Michelle Williams and KRS One.
