This just in from Sire Records
Fresh off the platinum success of their latest single “Untouched,” Aussie rock band The Veronicas are going back on the road for their sexy “Revenge Is Sweeter” summer headlining tour.
The Veronicas will also be featured on the week-long mtvU (MTV’s 24 hour college network) “Sunblock Music Festival,” beginning in New York City at Jones Beach July 23rd.
The band will perform on a string of radio and festival dates throughout the summer, including Suffolk Downs here in Boston on July 24.
Fronted by 24-year-old twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, the band embarked on a short warm-up tour in May — their first Stateside jaunt since last year’s run with The Jonas Brothers.
Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.com, as well as on their website at TheVeronicas.com.
The Veronicas have just released “Take Me On The Floor,” the second single from their current Sire Records album Hook Me Up, to radio, where it has been added to more than 40 stations across the country, including XM’s daily countdown show 20 on 20.
The girls recently performed with their band on “90210,” playing themselves on West Beverly’s prom episode, which aired May 12th on the CW. The band also performed in Las Vegas at the Miss USA 2009 pageant, which aired live April 19th on NBC.
The Veronicas have been riding high with the soaring success of “Untouched,” the first single from Hook Me Up. The track, which has sold nearly 1.5 million downloads, has remained lodged in Billboard’s Top 10 Heatseekers chart for over three months, reaching No. 1 multiple times.
It also bounced all over the iTunes Pop chart and remained a Top 20 track on both the Top 40 Radio and Soundscan Digital charts.
Supporting The Veronicas on their headlining tour dates is 15-year-old Taylor Momsen, star of The CW’s popular television series Gossip Girl.
“The Veronicas are great,” Momsen says. “They put on a really high energy and wicked show, so it’s awesome that our first U.S. club tour is with them!”
The Momsen-fronted rock band, The Pretty Reckless, are scheduled to release their full length debut CD on Interscope this fall.
