Caught Paula Cole and Lori McKenna last night at the Tupleo Music Hall in Londonderry, N.H.

Totally wowed by the performances. Lori McKenna, an awesome country/folk singer from Stoughton, Mass. opened the show. The chanteuse who’s worked with Faith Hill performed her vivid, witty, and usually tragic songs.

Despite the moodiness of the pieces, McKenna herself was lighthearted, joking with the audience and sharing stories about life as a mom and a performer.

Cole mainly performed some new and classic material and it was also great. The soulful, rocking tunes that cover the gamut of love and loss and betrayal. It really struck a chord with the audience.

Of course, the highlight of the evening was hearing Cole sing her hits, “I Don’t Want To Wait” and “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” Even if you’ve heard them a million times on the radio, I guarantee that if you hear them live, you will find new meaning and layers in these two pop hits.

Cole is back in Londonderry tonight, for another sold out show (lucky you if you scored tickets). If you miss her, I would definitely check out her web site for upcoming concerts.
