This just in, chamber music lovers.  The works of Beethoven and Chopin as well as a world premiere of a contemporary artist will be showcased by Worcester pianist Davis Pihl during a concert presented by the Essex Chamber Music Players.

The concert will be held at the Technology Center conference area at Northern Essex Community College on the Haverhill campus on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2:30 p.m., with a snow date Sunday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m.

The program will include the Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Sonata in D minor op. 31, No. 2 (“The Tempest”)”; Frederic Chopin’s “Andante spianato” and Grande Polonaise brillante, Opus 22”; and Marc W. Rossi’s “Invitation to Freedom: Three Movements for Solo Piano Inspired by the Teachings of J. Krishnamurti – Movement 1 “What Are You Seeking” “(world premiere).

Pihl will introduce each work.

Pihl, of Worcester, has performed widely in the Worcester, Boston, and Lowell areas, and, together with Andover’s Michael Finegold, co-founded the ECMP.

Pihl has taught music at Worcester State College, Northern Essex Community College and Becker Junior College.  He is the staff accompanist for the Theatre Department at the College of the Holy Cross and has been the accompanist for the University of Massachusetts – Lowell Chorus. He currently teaches at Lawrence Academy in Groton, Mass.

The NECC Technology Center is handicap-accessible. Tickets for general admission are $10 and $5 for students. NECC students with a college ID are admitted free.
