In case you missed it, Wally Lamb is coming to the area. The famed writer will be appearing in Portsmouth, N.H., next Thursday (Dec. 18). I’ll post the link here when it’s up.
I had the chance to interview him about a week ago via telephone — he was a lot of fun to talk to.
While most of our conversation appears in Thursday paper, there were a few anecdotes I had to leave out. They were too funny not share.
First, I asked him about his most offbeat reader question.
The answer: One woman asked him what women he would put on Mount Rushmore, if some faces were swapped out.
He could only come up with one: Aretha Franklin. He’s still thinking about it, though.
Second, another reader professed to big his biggest fan — something Lamb hears all the time. He jokingly asked for proof.
The fan rolled up her sleeve, showing off her tattoos of his book covers.
“That was pretty wild,” Lamb said.
Love to hear your thoughts on this, his books, his reading next Thursday, etc.
