Q&A with Tony Enos
Aug 14th, 2008 by Rosemary
For those of you who’ve seen today’s paper, I wrote a story about the upcoming Artist Expo in Lawrence next Thursday. Here is a Q&A interview with one of the featured acts, Tony Enos.
Me: Where are you from?
Tony: I am born and raised in Philadelphia.
Me: How did you get into music?
Tony: I’ve been singing and performing since I was 2. Then when I was 14, I started dancing and choreographing professionally. So my music got put on the back burner for a while. It wasn’t ’til my mid teens that I really started to break away from the dance industry and concentrate on being a recording artist.
Me: Who are you inspired by?
Tony: I am inspired by so many — Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Brian Mc Knight, on and on I could go lol
Me: Why?
Tony: From an artist standpoint they exemplify the type of artist and icon that I want to be. They leave a lasting impression on you, they’re more than just notes in a composition.
Me: What have you done musically that you are most proud of?
Tony: I’m most proud of being able to set up my foundation for HIV & AIDS research by donating a portion of the proceeds from my music sales.
Me: Why?
Tony: I had always promised myself as a kid that I would set up three foundations — one for HIV & AIDS, one for cancer research and outreach, and another for battered women and children. And that was the start of it with the TONY ENOS OUR LADY OF FATIMA & OUR LORD FOUNDATION FOR HIV & AIDS. It was really awesome to see that dream come to fruition.
Me: When did you start working on your debut album?
Tony: I really got down in the trenches with it in early 2008.
Me: Who did you work on it with? How did you find them?
Tony: My co-producer is Dammon “Mr. Dizzy Fingers” Bennett. He’s amazing! At the time I was looking for a remix producer to remix the first single “WORK IT OUT” and was referred to him by a friend. After hearing his work and having such a great experience working with him, I asked him if he would produce on the album and much to my blessing he excepted.
Me: What was your vision going into this project for the album?
Tony: The album really chronicles the positive and liberated place that I’ve been over the past four years. I’m a very passionate and sexually confident man, and I really wanted that to come across on the album. Whats more than that though, I really wanted to show my multifaceted personality in hopes that people could realize that we all have these multifaceted personalities. And by excepting that in themselves, that they could except and appreciate that in other people.
Me: How do feel about the final product?
Tony: While I’m still working on the finishing touches I feel great about it. It’s me and I hope when you listen you can hear my heart. And I hope when you feel it, that you can feel me.
Me: What are the details of your tour?
Tony: Were starting off with you guys in MA. Then NYC, FL, DC, TX, ATL, SC, & LA. But more dates and cities will be add as we go to press.
Me: What your plans for the future?
Tony: Well my entertainment company, ( lil ‘ T Entertainment LLC.) also houses a fashion co. ( lil ‘ T Fashions LLC.) so in the years to come I’m looking forward to launching my first women’s ready-to-wear line. Then moving into couture and fragrances. As well as acting and producing movies, so I’m looking forward to a lot. God had been so awesome already, I can only imagine what he has in store for the future.
