Comedy recomendations
Feb 21st, 2008 by Rosemary
Jessica posted this reply to something I posted about a comedy contest. I thought it deserved more attention:
Glad that someone is searching for comedy from the ground up; perhaps these comedians can feed our insatiable desire for laughs in case the writers go on strike again in the future. Many of my friends have started checking out YouTube to find clever amateur talent. Anyone have any good recommendations in that arena?
So if you have any good recommendations, post them here.

this might be a bit off topic, (not local and not college) but if you haven’t checked out Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager. it’s very funny and quite clever. There are 9 Episodes.
It’s on YouTube, which is why I thought of it. -

My recommendations for really good stand up comedians would be Mike Birbiglia, Demetri Martin, Stephen Lynch, Josh Sneed, and Gabriel Iglesias. They can all be seen regularly on Comedy Central and I’m positive that they can all be found on youtube.

Demetri Martin is brilliant, his CC special was great. He’s very good on the Daily Show, although he not on nearly enough.
He reminds me of a Wes Anderson movie. -

My brother goes to St. John’s prep in Danvers, and one of their students, Bo Burnham, recently got his start on YouTube. He writes his own funny songs. An agent found him on YouTube, and now he has started doing different shows. I think the Eagle Tribune actually did a story on him this fall.
In terms of things to check out, I really like the “All I Want is You” video from Juno. The song is really upbeat and unique as is the animation.
