Dexter
I have a story in today’s Eagle-Tribune about CBS’ plan to show “Dexter” tonight.

For those who don’t know, this series comes from its sister network Showtime. It’s about a Miami police forensics specialist, who is also a serial killer.

The twist: Dexter only kills really bad criminals. And the first season covers how Dexter became a killer — delving into trauma from his childhood.

On CBS, the show will air with some edits, for language and gore. However, the network says it didn’t make that many changes.

Fans should be happy. Critics — not so much.

Is this a good fit for CBS? Would love to hear your thoughts.

this is basically the same as when A&E started showing The Sopranos. If you want the full effect of the episodes, either subscribe to the premium channel or buy the DVD seasons. I've seen a few episodes of Dexter and I highly doubt CBS will be able to show some of the violence.

I only caught a few minutes, but looked pretty similar to me (the collection of body parts was a little jarring).

I just started getting these on netflix, well done show with an interesting premise. Not sure how it will work on broadcast TV.
Things are so much better on DVD. and TiVo.

I also like the show (though I feel a little sick admitting it).
I also caught it on DVD, being too cheap to pay for Showtime so I could see one series.

according to entertainment weekly, in order for CBS to avoid bleeping or muting out swears they resorted to dubbing "Motherlover" over that certain expletive. I just find that hilarious.

Seriously -- at that point it's better to bleep.
