So you think you’re funny?
I guess this competition may be for you:
The first annual National College Comedy Competition, is looking for the country’s funniest college students with contests on 32 campuses across the county, including Boston College on Feb. 26. The regional semi-finals and a final competition will be in Aspen, Colo., May 24-27.
There are two categories, Stand-Up and Short Film.During this first, on-campus phase of the Stand-Up competition, students go head-to-head for one of 8 slots on their school’s comedy team, which then goes on to compete in the semi-finals at one of 16 prestigious comedy clubs.
Audience members and judges will determine the 16 funniest comics, who will be narrowed to 4 finalists through online voting. Both online voters and a panel of celebrity judges will pick the top 4 funniest films.
Winners proceed to the finals in Aspen where they will compete in a live broadcast on RooftopComedy.com and viewers from all around the world vote online to determine the country’s funniest college students.
To enter, comedians and filmmakers need to register at www.RooftopComedy.com/college.
Don’t forget, if you make it the team, let your favorite entertainment reporter know.

Glad that someone is searching for comedy from the ground up; perhaps these comedians can feed our insatiable desire for laughs in case the writers go on strike again in the future. Many of my friends have started checking out YouTube to find clever amateur talent. Anyone have any good recommendations in that arena?
