Check out this concert

I have it on good authority that Jesse Ciarmataro is a talented jazz musician. The NoBo native just announced a Friday show at Gloucester’s West End Theatre, 1 Main St. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets for the all ages show are $10.

New Bond film named

The Associated Press just reported this:
“Quantum of Solace” is the title of the 22nd James Bond adventure.
The title was revealed to reporters today at Pinewood Studios, outside of London, where the movie is being filmed.
Producer Michael G. Wilson said the title, chosen only a few days ago, was taken from a story by Bond creator Ian Fleming that appears in the collection “For Your Eyes Only.”

Chiklis plays SecDef

That’s right. Andover High grad Michael Chiklis is currently filming the thriller “Eagle Eye,” helmed by “Disturbia” director D.J. Caruso.

The film reteams the director with his “Disturbia” star Shia LeBeouf.

LeBeouf and Michelle Monaghan play a slacker and a single mom who find themselves embroiled in a terrorist plot. Billy Bob Thorton and Rosario Dawson also have roles in the flick.

Chiklis plays the Secretary of Defense in the film, currently shooting around California and Chicago.

Time to play paparazzi

Aerosmith bass player Tom Hamilton will make an appearance Thursday, Jan. 31 at noon at Boston’s Hard Rock Cafe, 22-24 Clinton St., near Faneuil Hall.
His plan is to donate to the Hard Rock his 2003 Harley Davidson Fatboy 100th Anniversary bike — a gift to him from Harley — along with a bass guitar and stage outfit from Aerosmith’s recent tour. In return, the Hard Rock will present a check for $30,000 to Massachusetts General … continued »

West Newbury’s own wrestler will be part of the WWE’s next film project — 12 Rounds, which will begin shooting in New Orleans at the end of this month, according to IMDB.
Cena will play Detective Danny Baxter in this thriller set during Mardi Gras. The story follows an evil crime lord who forces Baxter into a battle of wits to save his girlfriend.  Renny Harlin (”Die Hard 2″) will direct.

Dancing Dohertys return

Lawrence Irish Stepdancers Brian and Scott Doherty are now kicking up their heels together.
Once part of competing Irish shows — Lord of the Dance and Riverdance — now these two brothers can hoof it side-by-side.
The Dohertys will make their way to Lowell in March with Lord of the Dance — making their mom, Anne Marie’s, “dreams come true.”
I’ll do a story on the dancing brothers closer to their appearance.

Actors may boycott Oscars

The Academy says the Oscars will go on without the stars — but will anyone really watch it? Yes, there’s even more news coming out of Hollywood this afternoon. This, too, just came in from the Associated Press:
NEW YORK (AP) — Several award-winning actors proclaimed their support for the writers strike after the Oscar nominations were announced Tuesday, saying they would trade in their prizes for a fair contract.

Heath Ledger found dead

This just in from the Associated Press:
NEW YORK (AP) — Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28. Police said Ledger was naked in his bed with an unknown number of sleeping pills near the body.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went … continued »

Methuen native and award-winning composer Christopher Lennertz and his wife, Shannon Lennertz, welcome a new addition: Neave Isabella Madden Lennertz. The baby girl was born at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at Cedar Sinai hospital in Los Angles. She weighed 7-pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 inches long.
