Wow. Fifteen minutes talking to one of the most polished, most genuine, intelligent and gentlemanly 15-year-olds i have come across in nearly 20 years at the newspaper.
With all the rumors circling around Georgetown High sophomore Jaymie Spears, I made a special trip to Wilmington where the Royals were readying to challenge the CAL large choice [...]

It’s never too early to start thinking about the state EMass boys hoop tournament, which is now less than a month away.
Right now, the region can boast three automatic qualifiers, that is teams who’ve wrapped up the magic number of 50 percent wins.
They are:
Central Catholic … 11-1 thanks to Sunday’s 32-point win over the Rangers [...]

I’ll start the conversation with a new, upated Fantastic Four for the week.
Never in my life would I have thought 2-3-4 would be so tough.
How can I in clear conscience leave Andover No. 2 after the loss Tuesday night at Dracut?
Yes, they were on the second day of a back-to-back. Yes, it was Dracut after [...]

The Spalding HoopHall Classic announced the three all-tourney teams from the weekend festivities out at Springfield.
Again, allow to drill this point home, this is a must-see for the true hoop junkie as long as it remains such a high caliber event.

Sorry about not live-blogging from Springfield where Central Catholic battled American Heritage of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to an 82-77 loss.
I can not take the blame. The wireless access was horrendous, to the point where i couldn’t hook in.
I promise plenty on the Raiders and the HoopHall Classic here and in tomorrow’s Eagle-Tribune, though.
First things first. [...]

Before we hit the hardwood I want to talk baseball, just for a minute.
First, there is the opening at Masconomet, one of the marquee Division 2 programs in EMass.
After only two seasons, Joe Marchesi is moving on. What a great program to inherit.
Talked to ex-coach Pete Delani and he says although he thoroughly enjoyed his [...]

A couple points after watching Central knock off Lawrence before a nice crowd.
While lawrence continues to struggle mightily on offense, you have to like the game played by Carson Desrosiers, who answered Lawrence’s physical challenge.
Kind of a ho-hum game, but I’m sure Ricky Nault will take it.
One note that missed the newspaper story, I apologize. [...]

Let it go!

I will make three quick comments:
1. Saying I want to “banish Central” is a bold, unequivocal lie, one that won’t be tolerated on this blog.
2. This blog is a sports blog, not a forum to debate the merits of public vs. private education. My take was that the MVC would be just an average run-of-the-mill [...]
