Congrats to all the champs crowned in the region, Central girls on the hardwood, Pinkerton Academy and Timberlane on the ice.
You guys deserve all kinds of credit.
Ok, now for some hoop talk.
Took in the NH twinbill yesterday, watching Portsmouth over Pelham for the Class I title in the matinee and then Salem obliterating BG in [...]

So it’s over. The ninth and final North playoff entry from our region, Central Catholic, has bowed out.
Hey, Lynn English was good, quick as that mid-afternoon thunderstorm at Disneyworld.
One quick sub-note here: If you can’t make it to the Garden tonight for the Central girls game with Brockton and you’re looking to keep up with [...]

Marsden 24, CD 15, but it was the Ryan Woumn show with 25, 20 in the second half.
Game Over
71-60 final. CC falls
3:46 … Marsden three makes it 58-50.

Ryan Woumn has been unstoppable. CC got to sevent, he scored on drive, a tear-dropper over Carson and a steal and layin.
Marsden is playing heroically in a [...]

Another vintage tourney performance out of Central Catholic and Billy Marsden to take out Lynn Classical.
Ricky Nault took offense when I told him at Lawrence-Somerville that no team scrapped like the Lancers scrapped.
He took it as a shot at his team’s defense.

Chiming in on the North tourney….
First and foremost, I’d like to personally thank the MIAA for scheduling 11 games at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
Heaven forbid, there were three at 1 p.m., four at 4 p.m. and 4 at 7 p.m., so the hoop fan could be a part of more than one.
You figure the [...]

Sorry this is a bit late, but I zonked early last night.
I’d like to chime in on the Andover-Malden game I was at last night.
First off an impressive performance on the Warrior account, with a No. 4 knocking off a No. 13.
1. The kinder, gentler David Fazio truly works. For those of you who don’t know [...]

Hi, I’m Hector Longo.
And I admit it, finally. I’ve been jaded.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it has to be the only explanation.
Who would have thought that “chilly” afternoon in Phoenix had such an impact on my life? I have to finally, after more than a year admit that the 2007 Patriots scarred me [...]

OK, I’m becoming annoying (some would say already been there for a while, that’s fine) and repetitive, but I have to go on the attack about the hoop scene in the Granite State and plead for the NHIAA to do something about it.
That pin drop you can hear in 90 percent of the gyms around [...]

Caught up with a physically-menacing Ronnie Rosario at the Haverhill boys hoop game Tuesday night.
Rosario looks like a man, stress that word man, on a mission. He’s bulked up some, looks dynamite and has clearly hit the weight room hard as his senior season behind the plate for the Hillies approaches.
After thinking he was headed [...]
