Wow, did anyone see that Andover football is picking up Xaverian in the fall?
I guess EJ means business.

Big Deal! Because Andover is playing a legit non league team EJ means business. Xaverian is the type of team that Central Catholic plays EVERY year. Give me a break!

Right, but it’s news because it’s not the type of thing that Andover football has done in the past.

Lets not give the great EJ too much credit here.  I’m sure the real reason is that, at this late date, they couldn’t find another

opponent that would have worked. Sorry it got cut off

And by the way, I noticed that Central vs. BC High lasted, oh, one year, and that was enough for the folks on Hampshire Street. You know those guys, the ones who drive to that bastion of football talent, Central Mass., to play Marlboro every year????

Check the facts they are no longer playing because the dates don’t match up not because as you say the folks on Hampshire street don’t want to play. Oh ya didn’t Andovet still play Haverhill when CCHS and Chelmsford honored Haverhill’s request not to playa the large schools. Let’s not give Andover too much credit for playing teams they should play

Agreed… Don’t get me wrong Andover is a quality program and EJ is a good coach I’m just saying that a match up like this is long overdue. These are the match-ups that football fans want to see.

Hector, CC plays SJP every year and in the past have played teams like New Bedford.  To say they play Marlboro ever year is false.  CC doesn’t really duck anybody.  Basketball always loaded with tough non-league games, baseball and hockey the same thing.  Don’t go making a big deal about Andovers schedule because they have had some cupcake games sense EJ took over.  Teams add easier teams in order to protect or rest starters rather then getting beat up every week and most play them early in the year so they don’t affect their league games later in the year.

Hector lets get the facts straight. Central plays SJP every year. Marlboro is a very well coached, good team from Central Mass.  Other non-league teams that they have played for multiple years include: New Bedford, Acton Boxboro, Woburn, Foxboro. This coming year they will play Marlboro, SJP and the word is they have added Lynn English, a team that won their league and made the playoffs this past season. The BC High game was switched because the bye week was changed and it no longer matched up with an open week for BC.  Regardless Central plays a very strong non-league slate each year. Chelmsford does too. You cant say that for the rest of the MVC

They have played marlboro at least the last 3-4. And don’t wear this badge of courage by saying they play the Prep every year either.
Has the Prep even been good in 10 years?
    EJ is upgrading.
When CC upgrades and Chuck plays Bergen Catholic or Don Bosco of Ramsey, NJ, then I will applaud them.

    FG,

All your points are well-taken, except for the well-coached Marlboro baloney. Stay in EMass, call Everett if you have to, or hit up the NJ Catholic League. No need to go to Central Mass because a team is well-coached. I hope the LE QB is back next year. He was dynamite.
