YouTube Preview ImageQuickly, instead of a picks video, we traveled all over NH to preview the playoff weekend. Please watch.
Here are the rest of my weekend picks.
Friday
North Andover over Lynn English … With or without Bambi
Lawrence over Methuen … Lancers aren’t a happy bunch
Pentucket over Amesbury … Sachems looking for winning mark
North Reading over Ipswich … Tigers won’t stop Captain Carl
Central over Billerica … All that matters from this one is that Nick LaSpada finds his health. Great kid. Deserves a lot better than he’s gotten health-wise. Best wishes and get well soon, Nick.
Haverhill over Dracut … Coach, give Brady 40 Chances, please
Andover over Lowell … Just because it’s the crazy year of MVC football

Saturday

Whittier over Lynn Tech … You think the MVC is nuts, try the wacky CAC large
Ham-Wenham over Georgetown … Tough times will make Royals better
St. Pauls over Brooks … Tough year for Brooks.
Andover over Exeter … Yep, one of the greatest upsets ever in the history of this rivalry.

In NH playoffs, I’ll take Pinkerton and B.G. taking care of biz from the top spot and I like Windham to upset St. Thomas in the D5 title game.

Happy times are gone in the MHS football program. What a 3 year run we had. Jim Weymouth must go. This all falls on him. Losing is accepted at MHS and that is bad. No MVC wins for the football team. Will we break the 33 MVC game losing streak we just had. Well we have a 9 game MVC losing streak right now. Hockey and Basketball are ready to start, will they add to the MVC losing streak? Losing should not be accepted and it is. Just watch the basketball program this year another program down in the dumps and were losing is accepted big time. Then there’s baseball were losing starts with there coach. Why are kids in all of MHS that have talent not wanting to play for there high school team. Look at there star running back on the football team Ryan S. He quits the team, Why. Why can MHS draw talent or keep talent from playing sports there. Mr Weyouth please step down, it’s time.

I saw MHS 3 times this…AHS, CC, LHS…and, they got tagged pretty good in all three. There can be no question that the entire surroundings of the MHS football program took a major step backward…however, that being said…I’m told the team is VERY young, and that many Sophs, and Juniors were starters. I never bothered to grab a roster, and take a look. But maybe there is something to work with, down the road???
Also…Hec, curious about your thoughts on this…
At CC, Licare was god for the longest time…but  sports, and the way they are played, change and evolve all the time. And Nault took over, and we saw what the CC hoop program could really be. Can this also maybe be applied to football? I like Coach A very much, and will remember the emotion and enthusiasm he has always brought… I remember wearing him shorts to every game, and pumping so much energy into that 1989 team, as an assistant. And he has been nothing less than a steady leader all these years. But maybe, just maybe, the time is getting close? I mean no disrespect…but sometimes a fresh perspective…
    Food for thought.

fan, I’ll leave it to veteran posters to wade in on whether RN has had more talent than Licare.  But my sense is that he has not.  What can not be disputed, however, is that the Central teams of the last 5-6 years play harder than those of the Licare era.  And the current edition plays like their hair is on fire.  This will be a fun bunch to watch.

As for Coach A, such a solid guy.  This year’s team is very young and has played better every week.  Even with LaSpada they’re two TD’s better than Billerica the other night.  Still, some new blood might be helpful.  Perhaps a new assistant or two…?

Man, you are down on the Rangers, BH.
And does this all fall on Weymouth?
I mean, that’s just not right. The guy got dealt a tough blow when Pat Graham left. But let’s see what Weymouth does now. Don’t you think he has to be all over Graham to bring him back. That’s no knock on Tom Tone. I like the guy, despite the fact that I’ve called him repeatedly on three different occasions this fall, trying to write something positive about his kids and the coach hasn’t bothered to return my call.
As for the other sports, we’ll see.
Bold move by Weymouth. He’s opened up every one of his spring coaching jobs for new candidates. The want ads are on the MIAA Web Site. If you have an issue with a spring coach, maybe you are about to get your wish.
It looks like the guy is trying to bring in the best coaches possible to me. Yet you continue to pound him.
As for the hockey team, I will never understand it. I say the problem is systemic, and it must start at the youth ranks.YOU HAVE A RINK. YOU SHOULD BE GOOD IN HOCKEY.
The youth program is gigantic. Maybe that’s where the problems lie.
