Just caught the Salem-Nashua North replay on Comcast.
First, congrats to the Blue Devils. They were the best team in New Hampshire Division 1 clearly from the opening snap.
They deserved it. North, which proved a formidable runner-up, was beaten by Salem on the fast turf at Stellos and the mud at Salem.
There is no doubt.
Will you ever see a better catch with the game on the line than Mike Lorenz’ TD bomb that won it? I thought Kyle Henrick’s first-half TD grab was a good one. Then I watched the ball Lorenz hauled in. Wow.
Super throw by Matt Cannone as well.
Salem came out of nowhere. All new up front. A couple of promising backs, and a QB with a year under his belt.
Tough kids up and down the lineup. They fly off the ball. They hit people. They keep their mouths shut. It’s refreshing.
Classy champs.
And I know I’m going to hear it from the Valley folks, Salem wins the MVC this year. They’re the best team in our region.
Speaking of classy competitors, big congrats out to Rob Oppenheim of Andover, who gritted out a spot in Stage 3 of the PGA Tour’s Qualifying School this week with a -10 showing in four rounds in Georgia.
He now gets to come back on Dec. 2 and play in the final stage, with a chance at one of 25 tour cards up for grabs to the field of about 180.
I’m fired up. This is a huge accomplishment. One more step closer to the big time.
All right, have to go to bed, long day ahead in Foxboro tomorrow, but I have one question for you MVC guys. What the heck happened to Scott Boyle, who is taking a year leave of absence in Lowell. The guy has done great things in Lowell. Love what he’s done in that city, love the young kids latching on to Lowell hoops.
Hope all is OK and he comes back. Boyle is one of the good ones.
