Clearly, the ripple effect of this morning’s Middlesex League expansion vote, which is bringing Arlington and Wilmington on board, will be felt in North Andover.

The Scarlet Knights had recently petitioned to join the Middlesex. Wilmington leaving the Cape Ann League severely weakens the competition in the CAL.

More to come later.

Thanks for the update Hector. I noticed that Arlington also is joining the Middlesex League. I guess those two make sense from a geographic standpoint. I understand what the administration at NAHS and Tewksbury (and Masco, reportedly) were trying to do. However, road games would be tough. It is a BC to the ACC move to a lesser extent.

If the three above schools really wanted out of their current leagues, why not work together with other schools who may not be the best fit where they currently are and put together a new league? Perhaps take some of the large CAL schools along for the ride (Pentucket, Newburyport?) and combine with some of the smaller MVC schools. Leave the smaller CAL schools to their own devices and let the larger MVC schools beat each other up.

Just brainstorming here, but an 8 team league of NA, Masco, Tewksbury, Pentucket, Westford, Chelmsford, Dracut, Billerica (and Newburyport and Danvers for 10?) would likely be more balanced than what a lot of those schools face now.

**I wanted to put Methuen in there but I could never see them leaving the MVC.
