You owe it to your sense of fairness to read Brendan Neilon’s response to my last rant on the Lawrence invitational.
I respect Brendan and his staff, happen to like all of them.
But i wrote what i did out of frustration and how much that event means to me.
I see the effort Brendan, his family, and you know most importantly, the LHS players put in for that event, running down foul balls, working the gate and the concessions and stuff.
Seriously, I respect that. ALOT!!!
Then, I see another year of six teams. And another. And another.
And another.
Forget all the other stuff. I don’t think I ever meant to say the LHS people, Brendan and all of them, don’t care.
Six teams was a nice little adjustment when things went awry, when they needed help, when Andover left, whatever.
But it hasn’t been one year. It’s been several. Have any moves been made for 2010? Who is on the agenda to attract?
Santo, you don’t understand when you go at me, what this tournament means to me.
It’s almost like a dating anniversary for my wife and I. When she brought me crispellis to the finals, the first year we were dating, I knew she was the one.
I apologize to you brendan and to LHS if you think it was a shot. It could have been. But I’ve asked you personally at least 15 times about possible 7th and 8th teams, and I’ve never heard a legitimate option.
Sorry, the format stinks, regardless of who needs games or not. Has North andover ever just played two games in a six-team field? I don’t think so. Is that fair? No.
Anyway, I appreciate all the input and support you guys have given Brendan. He’s a good guy and deserves it. But …
Six teams is six teams.
