Checked into the hot rumors surrounding the Middlesex League’s expansion.
Yes, there is life to the rumor that North Andover, Masconomet and Wilmington might all be involved in the new Middlesex mega-league.
According to sources, there have been overtures from all three CAL schools.
Nothing is imminent yet.
The remnants of the GBL, Medford, Malden, et al, have inquired [...]

North Andover, Masco and Wilmington to the Middlesex? It might happen

The wonderful folks in the Riverside-Bradford Little League saddled Ollie Longo’s 9-10-year-old Rockies with a tough chore, 4 games in 5 days, so I’ve had little or no time to get blog-errific.
Can I just say for the record that the 5th and 6th innings of 9-10 baseball is the greatest advertisement for lacrosse in the [...]
Hey, Tewksbury is at Haverhill, Friday at high noon!
Posted in Uncategorized on Apr 23rd, 2009 Comments
Folks, the weather has changed things a bit around the region.
Today at noon, it’s Tewksbury at Haverhill. The game had orignally been slated for Tewks, but field conditions forced a switch in venues.
I know the Hillies will see the big horse, Ronnie Wallace.
Interesting to see who Chip Dunn throws the Redmen’s way.
Is T-Rob ready??? We’ll [...]
This time, it’s on me.
The best college basketball coach in the land, Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, was in Lawrence this morning to visit a Carson Desrosiers morning workout and I missed it, because I couldn’t scrape myself off the pillow at 5:30 a.m.
Sorry, it was a late night at the office, followed by a little [...]
Thought about this subject an awful lot today at Central-Haverhill, more on that game and some other topics later.
Just want to say there’s an ugly trend brewing around here with some coaches, who simply don’t care or show little regard for the newspaper, the blog and the coverage provided to your athletes.
Shame on all these [...]
Your Tuesday mid-day fix is in … And the new Fantastic four … Central’s helmets send equipment back decades!

A bundle of nuggets and notes as I ponder what rummage sale or clearance rack Central Catholic A.D. Pete Paladino picked those horrific red-and-white, candy-cane batting helmets off of.
Sorry, Pete, but those things start at tacky and travel the ugly road to atrocious.
One thing that’s not atrocious is the Central Catholic lineup.
Even with the bad [...]
Fool me once Hillies, shame on you … Fool me twice, yowzah!!!

Watched Haverhill put a beating on Methuen today at the stadium.
Maybe, the world has sold the Hillies short. I know, well i think, I did.
Some nuggets and observations from the game and from around the region.
Current Masco hockey and former Lawrence High baseball coach Bill Blackwell made a keen point from the Rangers and Hillies [...]
OK, here are the MVC and CAL baseball predictions, plus our first Fantastic Four of the spring … By the way, the Creature loves the Raiders!

NOTE:ANDOVER IS AT CAMBRIDGE TODAY, NOT AT ANDOVER!!!
OK, I wanted to talk to the bulk of the region’s coaches, just to have a reinforced idea of who should be good and who shouldn’t be around the region.
With enough info gathered and my superior intellect (just kidding here, folks … making sure you’re paying attention) here [...]
Cuse in the House wins the gift card … Will this rain ever allow baseball season to begin?
Posted in Uncategorized on Apr 7th, 2009 Comments
We have a winner, and it’s Cuse in the House with 36 points.
A gallant effort by JMcVeigh pulling in second at 32. The rest of us should be ashamed of ourselves for not knowing that this thing was just the Tar Heel invitational.
Cuse, e-mail me, hlongo@eagletribune.com, with the restaurant of your choice for the $25 [...]
BRRRRRRR … it was cold out there today, Creature has the red turf shoes on, we must be talking baseball

The tired blogger is back.
Can’t pass up such a special occasion as Opening Day in the region, without blogging.
First up, some old hoop business. The Carson Desrosiers fire is again being re-stoked.
Heard that Georgia Tech, Providence and, oh shoot, one other big timer that has shown mega interest was in this week to see him. [...]
