It’s now 52-36 Millis. Molly Breen has 25 points. Double-teaming Taryn O’Connell is working well for the Mohawks.
Georgetown is in trouble. The Royals cut the lead to five (40-35), but Molly Breen scored eight straight points — an 8-0 run on her own — to push the Millis cushion back up to 13 (48-35) at the end of the third quarter.
The Mohawks lead 29-22 at halftime. They outscored Georgetown 21-12 in the second quarter. Haley Gisonno leads the Royals with nine points. O’Connell has seven. Molly Breen has been pretty great for Millis. She has 12 points. The Garden hasn’t exactly been rocking, but hey, this is the first game of the afternoon.
Millis just went on an 8-2 run to build an 20-12 lead at 3:30 in the second quarter. The Mohawks are doing a great job on O’Connell. She hasn’t gotten many attempts since her two first-quarter threes.
It’s gotten closer here. Millis has an 11-10 lead early in the second quarter. O’Connell is getting blanketed pretty good. G-Town’s gonna have to find a way to get her the ball.
G-Town is ahead 8-4 with 4:15 remaining in the first quarter. Taryn O’Connell’s hot shooting — 2 for 4 with two 3-pointers — has been the difference. The Royals have also started to press.
