I watched the video of the Central-CM shootout. in my eyes, and those of at least four different people who know a lot more about hockey than I do, it was a goal, plain and simple.
The intent of the “no stopping” rule is all about the shooter not changing his move and trying something else. I’m not in Balsamo’s head, but it looked like he had that move, a sick move if I ever saw one in high school, planned from the start.
I’ve heard all the lore over the years about the breaks CM gets in winning the Super 8 year after year.
They got some help here, a lot of help. Not that they wouldn’t have ultimately won, but ….
