Central Catholic senior guard Billy Marsden has accepted a scholarship offer to play at Division 2 Southern New Hampshire University.
Marsden, The Eagle-Tribune Player of the Year in 2008, was pondering playing Division 3 ball in the NESCAC but chose to play in the Northeast-10 at a higher level.
Much more on the Marsden signing in Wednesday’s Eagle-Tribune.
One other Central Catholic recruiting note: The University of Florida has now entered the mix, with representatives flying up this week to see Carson Desrosiers.
The last NH guy to play for Billy Donovan’s Gators worked out pretty well, right?

It is great to see Billy going to a Northeast 10 school. I think he will be successful there in Stanley Spirou's system. Stanley loves tough, gritty players who can put their team on their back in crunch time. Not afraid to take the big shot either. NE-10 will be a whole new world though – physically and athletically. And mentally – you guys think Paul, Faz and Nault are screamers – say hello to Stan the man baby – they are mellow compared to him.

Word is that Desrosiers has already made a back-door verbal committment to Jim Calhoun at UCONN. Don't tell anyone that I told you.

Pretty well put redstorm. I haven't seen Billy play but from the write-ups I've seen he sounds like a tough kid who's also a winner. Hopefully he can get acclimated to the physicality and size of the NE10 in quick time, but the Penmen will still be a guard-oriented team next year and thus he may not be asked to do too much right off the bat. They also have a commitment from a PG in CT (DeSantis) and Velez from Woburn (anyone seen his game?), which hopefully will turn next year's frosh class into a solid one.

Stan may be a “screamer” but it's only because he cares and from the sound of Marsden's make-up it seems as if he should easily be able to listen through the noise…b/c Stan always has the team and player's best interests at heart regardless of the delivery.

I could not agree with you more. And you are right – Billy has the stare and focus. He will be able to easily focus on what the coach is saying with out getting flustered. I meant no disrespect to stan as a screamer – just trying to make a point that when Stan goes off – baby he can go with the best of them!
