With Timberlane’s romp over both Framingham and Lowell wrestling last weekend, the question has been raised: What’s wrong with Mass. wrestling?

Actually, there’s nothing wrong. It’s just that Timberlane is that good. Moreover, as Concord and Pinkerton showed at the Concord Capitol Classic last week (finishing 1-2 with Vermont power Mt. Anthony fourth), the best NH teams in general may be better.

    Seriously, who cares about wrestling?
  • Dave Dyer
Lots of people care about wrestling. I've been to many meets where the crowds are larger than at basketball and hockey games.
  • Isn't that because there are 35 teams involved and not just two?

usually ther4 are only 25 or more teams in the big tournements. normally its only two or three

I think New Hampshire as a whole is not good wrestling. TImberlane is just dominating. the second best team in new hampshire will probally get beat by a number of area teams.
  • Dave Dyer
Maybe, but Concord rarely loses to a Mass. team and does well in the Mass.-dominated Lowell Holiday Tournament every year and always wins the Salem Blue Devil Classic (which has many Mass. teams). And Concord lost to Pinkerton this year.

Hey Dave, yes, there are alot of people who care about wrestling. As far as Mass/NH, Barry C. has done an outstanding job of exposing his team to the best wrestlers in the nation throughout the years. This has paid vast dividends for the quality of wrestler he has produced. I don't know of any other teams that attends more out of state and out of New England Tournament than Timberlane. You want to be the best, compete against the best.
